This clinical study* was done by the University of California at Berkeley.
It compared 3 groups of people 50 and older
with the Shaklee group being the oldest in age:
those who used no supplements
those who used non-Shaklee supplements regularly
those who used Shaklee supplements
Comparison |
Bio-markers of Health | Took No Supplements | Took Not-Shaklee Supplements | Used Shaklee Supplements |
Homorcysteine Levels Indicator of Heart Disease (10 OK: but the lower the better) | 9.9 | 9.5 | 6.3 |
C-Reactive Protein - a protein present in blood serum in various abnormal states such as in inflammation or tumors (3.0 is a good number) | 5.1 | 3.6 | 2.2 |
HDL Good Cholesterol (50 is OK but the higher the better) | 51.9 | 53.6 | 58.3 |
Triglycerides (150 or below; the lower the better) | 173.8 | 152.2 | 116.5 |
Incidence of Coronary Heart Disease | 7.5% | 9.8% | 5% |
Incidence of Heart Attacks | 7.4% | 9.1% | 2.5% |
Incidence of Congestive Heart Failure | 5.2% | 5.1% | 1.4% |
Incidence of Diabetes | 11.6% | 13.1% | 2.9% |
So, Shaklee supplements users had 2.5 heart attacks per 100 people
whereas "other supplement users" had 9.1 heart attacks per 100 people.
Another item of note:
The average number of perscriptions for people aged 65 is 10 or more.
The average number of perscriptions for Shaklee users is 0.6
